U.S. Davis Cup Team to face Switzerland in 2012 first round

The U.S. Davis Cup Team was drawn to face Switzerland away for its opening round tie next year when the official draw for the 2012 Davis Cup by BNP Paribas World Group was held Wednesday in Bangkok.
All 2012 Davis Cup World Group First Rounds ties will be played February 10-12. The quarterfinals will be held in April, with the semifinals in September and the final in November.
The U.S. advanced to the Davis Cup Quarterfinals this season, falling to Spain 3-1 in Austin, Texas in July.
Switzerland regained its place in the World Group for 2012 after winning a World Group Playoff 3-2 over Australia last week behind two singles victories from 16-time Grand Slam champion Roger Federer.
The U.S. last faced Switzerland in the opening round in 2009 on an indoor hardcourt in Birmingham, Ala., which the Americans won 4-1.
The official lineups for the tie and the location will be determined at a later date.
The U.S. is the most successful nation in Davis Cup history with 32 titles, the last coming in 2007.
