August 23, 2011 04:01 PM
WINSTON-SALEM, NC - AUGUST 23: Nikolay Davydenko of Russia serves against Michael Russell of the USA during the Winston-Salem Open.

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (AP) -- Dmitri Tursunov and Igor Kunistyn have been upset at the Winston-Salem Open.

Belgium's Steve Darcis rallied to beat the No. 11-seeded Tursunov 3-6, 6-1, 6-3 Tuesday in the second round of the last men's tuneup before next week's U.S. Open.

Qualifier Julien Benneteau of France claimed a 6-3, 6-1 victory over the No. 16-seeded Kunistyn to advance to the third round.

Three seeded players won early matches. No. 5-seeded Nikolay Davydenko beat American Michael Russell 6-2, 6-2; No. 7-seeded Juan Monaco topped Germany's Tobias Kamke 7-5, 6-0; and No. 10-seeded Robin Haase defeated American James Blake 6-4, 6-1.

Tournament director Bill Oakes says no matches were stopped due to the earthquake that shook parts of the East Coast and that "no one really seemed to notice it.''
