The Jr. Open Competition is ON!

The rising stars of tennis, from Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands, began their race to the top position in the rankings - last January - with the celebration of the Junior Open # 1 at the Honda Tennis Center in Bayamón, Puerto Rico.

More than 180 players of the of 12U, 14U, 16U and 18U categories faced each other in the tournament, that lasted two weekends, competing in singles and doubles.

The 12U and 16U players started the competition.  Marcos Vázquez and Mila Martínez triumphed, as well as Alex Aguiar and Amanda Díaz, in their categories, playing singles.

During the second weekend, it was the turn for the 14U and 18U players, with Andrea Pérez and Nicholas Snyder, along with Amanda Díaz and Gabriel Cestero ending as champions in their respective divisions.

This advanced tournament is the first of six that are held during the year with the purpose of promoting the development of youth tennis in our section and to give young players the opportunity to accumulate ranking points.
