PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

 

The objectives of the Community Outreach Grant are to:

1.      Demonstrate the USTA resolve and commitment to diversity and inclusion.

2.      Invest in the strategies to increase the number of youngsters and/or adults served with quality programming to diverse markets.

3.      Recruit new players to the sport of tennis.

4.      Retain players year after year.

5.      Increase the number of frequent players.

6.      Preference will be given to new organizations that have not received prior USTA funding.

 Target Demographic (All ages, all income levels):
Hispanics/Latino-Americans
African-Americans/Blacks
Asian/Asian-Americans
Pacific Islanders
Native-Americans/American Indians
Gays & Lesbians
Those with Disabilities
Grant Requirements:

·        Program must be nonprofit or sponsored through a nonprofit organization.

·        Program must have been in existence more than three (3) years

·        Program must have an on-court Program, and if only serving youth, an Educational Component, too.

·        Must submit two letters of recommendation along with the completed application (e.g. section, community leader, or school leadership).

·        Must demonstrate fundraising capability and potential for program self-sufficiency.

·        A progress report will be required (September 30, 2007).

·        Each program must have provisions in place so that no one will be denied an opportunity to participate because of inability to pay, race or ethnic background, sexual orientation, or any disability.

GUIDELINES:

·        The Grant Application must be received by close of business on January 5, 2007.

·        Typical Grants are from $5,000 to $15,000, and the USTA reserves the right to make partial or larger grants.
